On arrival at this Blitz inspired awards dinner, guests were given a ration book menu and an enamel mug for their first cocktail. Canapés included Churchill’s cigars – BBQ pigeon pastilla walnut maltose ash with dry ice and ‘Battle of Britain’ – Pilots’ handlebar moustaches under gunpowder filled cloche for guests to wear whilst drinking a shot of gunpowder tea-smoked quail consommé. Lunch began with 21st Century civilian rations served on enamelware and a brown paper-wrapped sliced loaf on a set of old fashioned scales along with butter ‘imperial weights’ on waxed paper. The battlefield rations box main course was Raised meat pie and a mess tin with spiced carrot and swede mash, wartime garden root vegetables, salsify, heritage carrots, baby leeks and gravy served in a metal canteen. Street party mini puddings included Rhubarb & buttermilk trifles, Hershey chocolate mini bars and Rosehip jellies served in vintage china. Cherry flavoured tobacco and white chocolate roll petit fours were served in black market cigarette packets and client branded tins.

“Thank you so much for all your hard work at our event, you guys are amazing. The whole look of the venue was better than I could have imagined, the food was outstanding and the service was excellent. Give us a few weeks then we’ll get on to planning next year!”
